I’ve see some people comment that DOGE and Elon Musk are just trying to deal with waste and cutting government spending and everyone complaining about their actions are misguided.

Cutting waste and government spending is a good thing. It needs to be done and should have been done long ago. However, that is not what DODGE is doing. What DODGE is doing is engaging in capricious cuts rather than deliberate, researched cuts. This is why we’re ending up with massive cuts in areas that involve keeping the public physically safe and accidentally firing staff in charge of protecting our nuclear arsenal and then scrambling to attempt to rehire them.

Additionally, waste and government spending aside, it is not like DODGE is staffed with competent accountants and auditors. Instead you’ve got 19-22 year olds running around government office buildings with access to information they probably should not have access to. Finally, it is being reported that DOGE and Trump have fired a number of individuals who are not being paid with taxpayer money but with fees paid to government by firms.
